Melina Duterte, playing under the name of Jay Som, brought her cool, lush sounds to the Valley Bar in Phoenix, Arizona. For a Tuesday night, the show was packed and everyone there was really energetic and dancy.
They played mostly songs from their 2017 release, Everybody Works such as "Baybee" and "The Bus Song," but some songs off of Turn Into as well. They also played a cover of "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple, a classic! The small venue allowed for an intimacy to form between the crowd and them. It seemed that the crowd was made up of hardcore Jay Som fans with them singing each lyric.
They were a fun band to see, dancing, making jokes and playing good music. This stop was an off day from their tour supporting Paramore and Foster the People so if you have a chance to see them, go check them out!
Here is the photo gallery, enjoy.
