A Playlist for April by Grace B.

April 30, 2019

To bring April to a close, we asked artist Grace Baek to create a playlist for us.

"The songs in this playlist are all very near and dear to my heart. These are the sticky tracks that keep me listening over and over because the mood in each is so potent-- I think if there were a theme it would be sentimental + optimistic. I've always loved a sad song but lately I've been into more of the reflective, uplifting ones to keep me happy and focused, and listening to a lot of old faves for a comfy transition into the new season."

April has begun which means that spring is well underway! Spring is always such a refreshing time of year when everything comes alive. We love everything about it!

In March, we had contributions to some ongoing columns of ours as well an interview with Elena Majecki and some beautiful photo sets. Coming up this month we are extremely excited to share with you another interview, an incredible photo series, and a special playlist! We always adore seeing the passion behind each and every submission we get and the uniqueness that each creator exudes.

As always, our inbox is open (dissolvingfilmmagazine@gmail.com) and we hope that you feel inspired to send in some of your own work. Your submission does not have to be part of a column on our site but can be any medium as long as it is centered around art and/or music.

Thank you all for the continuous support! We can never express enough gratitude for all that you do.

Love,
Zoë Bridgwater + Zoey Martinez (zb + zm)

P.S. If you have any suggestions or ideas for how we can improve, be sure to send them our way! We would love to hear your feedback.

zb and zm's monthly playlists

April 30, 2018

To bring each month to a close, we, the co-creators of Dissolving Film, will each publish a playlist that is composed of our favorite songs from that month.

“What inspired me most when creating this month’s playlist was actually the memories I have with Zo from sitting in computers class trying to drown out the other kids screaming at each other with our cheesy Pandora stations and iPod Nanos. As a senior getting ready to graduate I miss those times even though if you had asked me then I’d never have thought I’d ever be saying so.” - Zoey Martinez (zm)

Spring is in full swing and we couldn’t be more excited. With the end of the school year coming and things starting to grow back and blossom, what’s not to love?

As always, we like to take some time every month to reflect on the previous month as well as recognize all of you that support us and contribute to Dissolving Film, so thank you! We couldn’t be more grateful.

Take some time this month to practice some extra self-care--while we love this month because of “all things new” it’s easy to get swept away in that and forget to take time for yourself.

We hope to hear/see from you!

Love,
Zoë Bridgwater + Zoey Martinez (zb + zm)

It's always tough to come back from spring break but there's only a couple more months of school left!

We'd love to see anything that you may have created over spring break or before or after--here are some ideas of things you could submit if you need some recommendations:
•drawings/paintings (digital or hand made)
•photos (digital or film)
•collages
•zines
•poems
•journal entries
•playlists
•original compositions/lyrics
•concert photos
•etc.

We wouldn't be able to run this magazine without all of your support each month and amazing submissions so we want to thank you so very much.

Love,
Zoë Bridgwater + Zoey Martinez (zb + zm)
